Some of the best learning happens when children are too busy being curious, creative, and completely in the moment to notice. Wild Hearts Art Camp is exactly that kind of experience.
Over four magical mornings, children ages 8–13 explore art-making and spend hands-on time with our gentle horses — guided by two extraordinary women who love this age group and know how to bring out the best in every child.
No prior art experience needed. No horse experience needed. Just an open heart and a love of creating.
PERFECT FOR CHILDREN WHO
Love making things | Are drawn to animals | Thrive in small groups | Need space to be themselves | Are curious about nature
Every day at camp has its own rhythm — a blend of creating, connecting, and simply being on the farm. Here's a peek at how the mornings unfold.
Children arrive, settle in, and say good morning to the horses. The farm sets the tone — something relaxes the moment you walk through the gate.
Guided, hands-on time with our gentle horses — grooming, leading, observing. Children discover what it means to be fully present with another living being.
Lois leads a guided art session using a different medium each day — from watercolor to sculpture. Every child works at their own pace and in their own style.
Children gather to share what they made and what they noticed. A simple, meaningful close to each morning before heading home.
Each pillar of Wild Hearts Art Camp is purposeful on its own —
and extraordinary together.

Guided by nationally recognized, award-winning art educator Lois Feiner — who has been teaching art to young people since 1986 — Each day Lois will lead a guided art session where children can select from projects of various media or they may continue from one day to the next to enhance projects previously started. Every child works at their own pace and in their own style.

Led by Stacey Bean, children spend meaningful time with our gentle, well-trained horses — grooming, leading, and simply being with them all from the ground - there is no riding. Horses have a remarkable ability to help children slow down, feel safe, and discover something quiet and true about themselves.

Wild Hearts Art Camp is led by two of Indigo Trails Farm's most beloved facilitators — each bringing decades of experience and genuine heart to every session.

Lois brings 39 years of teaching experience to Indigo Trails Farm — working with students from elementary school through high school, including extensive experience with children on the autism spectrum and those who have experienced trauma. She holds a BA in Art from the University of Maryland and a Master's degree in Principalship and Curriculum Development from Edgewood College, and holds Wisconsin administrative certification in both roles.
A lifelong horse lover, Lois is deeply passionate about the intersection of art, healing, and the natural world. She understands firsthand how creative expression calms the mind, unlocks emotion, and opens doors that other approaches simply cannot.
Milken Family Foundation National Educator Award — one of education's most prestigious honors, awarded in 1999 with an unrestricted prize of $25,000 for exceptional contributions to teaching and educational leadership.
