Meghan Whitman is a relationship-focused sport horse trainer with a passion for empowering horses and their humans to achieve their goals while honoring their individuality. Her approach prioritizes understanding behavior, nervous system regulation, and biomechanics, allowing each horse to develop confidence and strength in a way that supports their unique needs.
She joined Indigo Trails Farm in 2023 and has been working with horses since 2008. She is a skilled and passionate trainer and instructor who cherishes deepening the horse-human connection and building a better understanding of communication with our beloved horses. Meghan believes that true partnership comes from listening to the horse and guiding them with trust, patience, and respect. She also ensures her students gain the skills to be independent of her, becoming strong partners and trainers for their own horses.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Equine Management and has past experiences working as an equine veterinary assistant and as a working student for Tik Maynard and Sinead Halpin-Maynard, giving her a well-rounded perspective on horse care and training across multiple disciplines and levels. She continues her education through Celeste Lazaris’ Balance Through Movement Method as well as other postural and functional movement studies and works closely with Nick Rivera. Connecting with other like-minded professionals is an honor, and Meghan is grateful for any opportunity to learn from fellow horsemen and women.
Meghan views training as a partnership—fostering a deeper, more intuitive connection between horse and rider. She is dedicated to continually evolving her methods, welcoming new horses and students into her program, and furthering her mission to create empowered, harmonious partnerships.
Meghan offers full and partial training packages, on- and off-site lessons, education days, and video consultations tailored to each horse and rider’s needs. For inquiries or to discuss availability, please contact us. Travel fees may apply for off-site services.
